Brewers acquire RHP Aaron Civale from Rays

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired right-hander Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, adding a veteran arm to their pitching staff for the second half of the season.
The Rays received minor-league infielder Gregory Barrios in exchange.
The Rays acquired Civale at the 2023 trade deadline from the Cleveland Guardians.
In 17 appearances (all starts) this season, the 29-year-old is 2-6 with a 5.07 ERA. He signed a one-year, $4.9 million contract in January to avoid arbitration and won't become an unrestricted free agent until the 2026 season.
In his career with the Guardians (2019-23) and Rays, Civale has started 103 games and has a 33-32 record and a 4.10 ERA
Barrios, 20, is hitting .325 with one home run, 34 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 61 games at High-A Wisconsin.
Milwaukee designated right-hander Taylor Clarke for assignment in a corresponding transaction.
Clarke, 31, is 1-1 with a 5.34 ERA in 10 games (eight starts) this season at Triple-A Nashville. He owns a 15-15 record with a 5.03 ERA in 183 games (22 starts) with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2019-21) and Kansas City Royals (2022-23).
The Brewers hold a six-game lead in the National League Central ahead of Wednesday's road game against the Colorado Rockies.
